Terms of service

Life Engine ยท effective 10 September 2026

There is no service on offer here. Life Engine is a private system with one user, who is also its author. These terms exist because Google requires a terms-of-service document at a verifiable address before issuing OAuth credentials.

1. What this is

Life Engine is personal software written and operated by one individual, running on a server they control, acting solely on their own data. It is not a product, not a hosted service, and not available to the public. No accounts can be created and no other person can obtain access.

2. Who may use it

Its owner and operator, and no one else. Any other attempt at access is unauthorised.

3. Acceptable use

The operator uses the system only to process their own data, from accounts they own, and undertakes not to use it to access, collect or infer information about any other person's Google account. Where the system incidentally encounters other people's information โ€” a name in a calendar invitation, for example โ€” that information is handled under the privacy policy and is never used to build a profile of anyone but the operator.

4. Google API services

Life Engine's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide the operator with features they have asked for, is never transferred except as disclosed in the privacy policy, is never used for advertising, and is never sold.

5. No warranty

The system is provided as-is by its author to themselves, with no warranty of any kind. It may fail, lose data, or reach a wrong conclusion about how a week should be spent. Its output is a suggestion to a human, never an instruction to be followed unexamined, and it makes no medical, financial, legal or professional recommendation of any kind. Any health-related data it holds is a record, not advice, and no part of the system is a medical device.

6. Limitation of liability

The author accepts no liability to any party for any loss arising from the system, to the fullest extent permitted by law. As the only user is also the author, this allocates risk to the person who chose to take it.

7. Termination

The operator may stop the system and revoke its access at any time, without notice, at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

8. Changes

These terms may change. The effective date above records when they last did.
